In learning how to use Adobe Illustrator and the laser cutter, we were tasked with designing and assembling an art piece which incorporated our new skills. My nerdy obsessions turned into art as a result of this project. As is in the slideshow below, I created a 3D model of an ornithopter, which is a fantastical aircraft from the world of Frank Herbert’s Dune. Engraved into the stand is the cannonical historical description of the ornithopter.
